2025 Winter Solstice
Usually, I’d be there with my glad rags and beanie, ready to stomp the earth and dance the night away. Listening to bangin’ beats and kicking it with high-vibing people. Solstice is one of those gigs that draws in a truly divers range of humans.
This year was the 30 th celebration of NZ’s longest running music festival and we showed up ready to feed the masses with slight heart palpitations, it being the first time we put the generator through its paces.
We were saved by an amazing lady, ‘Sam from Careys Bay’ (love that lady), who did the morning dash to Kaans for a much-needed supply increase after finding out there was going to be double the anticipated number of ravers.
We operated for almost a continuous 24 hours but managed to squeeze in a quick 3-hour nap at the crack of dawn, before brewing Grid coffee and serving up brekkie wraps, hand over fist.
Selling out the night before of just about everything. Eeek!
Note to self: falafel wraps and gluten free quinoa cups, were not something people wanted. Let’s be honest though, if bacon butties and dumplings are on offer, why would you want anything else?
What a ride!
